About Dr. Lon Hider
Founder of Your Theological Personality
I’m Dr. Lon Hider, a lifelong learner of Scripture, a Lutheran pastor, and someone who has journeyed through various expressions of the Christian faith—as a follower, leader, and pastor.
Throughout my ministry, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside and serving in fundamentalist, evangelical, charismatic, and mainline churches. Each tradition revealed something beautiful: a deep passion for the Word, an earnest hunger for the Spirit, a unique connection to God through their worship, and a commitment to living out their faith.
But every tradition also had its challenges—moments where fear overshadowed grace, where certainty stifled curiosity, or where theology focused more on creating boundaries than fostering transformation.
What ultimately brought me freedom wasn’t finding the “perfect” stream of Christianity.
It was discovering how to embrace what gives life—and leave behind what doesn’t.
This principle has become the cornerstone of my spiritual journey and ministry. It’s the heart of what I now teach others: to discern how their theology has been shaped—by teaching, pain, culture, and grace—and to allow Christ to lovingly reshape it.
I created Your Theological Personality as a tool to help people uncover the patterns influencing how they believe, pray, love, and lead. This isn’t about labeling or limiting—it’s about offering language, awareness, and a grace-filled path forward.
You don’t need to abandon everything, nor are you obligated to hold on to it all.
Christ offers the freedom to keep what nourishes—and release what no longer brings life.
Grounded in Justo González’s A/B/C theological framework and shaped by my own pastoral and academic experiences—including earning a Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) degree—this resource is designed to help you uncover the challenges and opportunities within your theological personality.
In that discovery, I pray you find the clarity, compassion, and courage to follow Christ with greater freedom.
